Water Tank

Before the 1980’s there was no direct water supply to individual homes in the village. People collected their water from a number of wells that were located in the village.

In 1980 the Nani Pethan committee in the UK decided to build a water tank so water could be supplied directly to homes. Money was raised for the project with work beginning in 1981 and being completed in 1982. It was decided that water would be supplied to all houses for one hour each morning.

Around the year 2008, the government introduced a new scheme offering villages 90% of the funds to build and install a water tank with remaining 10% to be provided by the residents of the village.

Nani Pethan accepted the offer and work on a second tank was started in 2009 and completed in 2010. As a result of having two tanks, water is now supplied to the residents twice a day; morning and evening.
